NFL: Preseason-Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys
(Dallas, TX) – We’re a few weeks away from the start of NFL training camps. Not exactly an ideal time to develop a new injury. But that appears to be what’s going on with Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys’ star QB who is entering what could be a key season for his career.
While deep-sea fishing recently, Prescott was seen wearing a walking boot. He told Clarence Hill of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that it’s for “precautionary reasons.” And while Prescott told Hill “I’m great,” when asked – it’s worth noting that this is the “same ankle, same issues,” from the season ending injury Prescott suffered in 2020.
Still, reports indicate that there’s not a major level of concern about Prescott’s ankle or health overall with training camp in sight. In fact, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport says Prescott is actually dealing with a “very minor foot sprain.”
Rapoport’s reporting came after the original photo of Prescott in the walking boot made the social media rounds on Wednesday, last week. He added the QB’s been dealing with the sprain for around half a week.
In terms of this being a key season for Prescott and the Cowboys, this is the final year of a four-year pact both sides signed in 2021. So it stands to reason Prescott is playing for a new contract this year – either in Dallas, or elsewhere.
