(Green Bay, WI) – As offseason activities are well underway, Jordan Love will not be taking to the practice field until he has a new deal.

In his third year (and first year starting) as the Packers quarterback, Love snuck Green Bay into the playoffs for an upset win in Dallas. After ranking 2nd in the league in touchdown passes, the Utah St. product is looking for a new deal heading into 2024.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced to the media on Monday before training camp that Love would not be at practice until a deal is agreed upon. The organization has acknowledged that their plan is to have Love long-term, and Gutekunst is optimistic that it will be a short window that Love is absent.

“We’re working really hard to get that done. I think it’s really important for us.”

Gutekunst added that he feels it is also important that Love gets in reps with his team during the offseason, and any urgency to get a deal done is in the best interest of the Packers as a whole heading into the season.

Love holds a majority of the leverage in this situation, but with one of the youngest rosters in the NFL, Green Bay should have the cap space to make something work.
