NFL: New York Jets Training Camp
(Florham Park, NJ) – Quincy Williams shined bright amongst stars on the Jets’ defense in 2023. After signing a contract extension to stay in New York, Williams put together his best season so far – a season that ended with a first-team All-Pro selection.
Yet Williams feels that he is still underrated despite the recognition he got at seasons’ end. He was not selected to the Pro Bowl despite being named one of the best linebackers in the league.
Williams’ goal is to “leave no doubt” as a way of improving on his impressive previous season. He said, “For me to leave no doubt that no one feels like I’m not the best linebacker, I have to get better every single day.
Playing alongside his All-Pro brother Quinnen, Quincy Williams showed he has a knack for bringing down ball carriers and finding the football. He notched 95 solo tackles, 15 for loss, and 2 forced fumbles.
Williams says, “my most important thing is, I’m the fastest linebacker in the league. So when you talk to offensive linemen, I’ll be like, “Listen, if you let this linebacker run past you and you never let me run past you, that’s a problem. I’m going to be mad.’ As far as our receivers, we’ve got Sauce and D.J. – number one cornerbacks in the league – so it’s like, ‘Bro, if you let this dude lock you up, we don;t want to hear none of that.’”
He, alongside C.J. Mosely, make up one of the league’s best linebacker cores. The Jets’ defense, with fast linebackers, sack-chasing linemen, and shutdown defensive backs has the opportunity not just to be one of the best in the league – but one of the best ever. The consistent improving play of Williams will play a significant role in a historic run.
